Thornhill Computer Program
Available to children and youth ages 5-19 years old. Also classes are available for adults and seniors (TBA). This program is designed to make available the use of computers to those who need access to the internet for research, school papers, resumes, to do homework etc. For some people the public library is too far or the hours do not match your schedule. Many seniors and adults lack computer skills and are afraid to let people know their short coming. We at Thornhill provide these services in a home setting in small groups or one-on-one (A small fee may be required).

Youth Community Services Initiative
Teenagers of 13 to 19 years old from our community churches, high schools, youth leadership programs and young adults from our local colleges are given the chance to help their community. They are encouraged to perform various services to those unable to access or afford these services in their communities. Services include but are not limited to: 1. Tutoring children who need help with school work. 2. Teaching computer basics to senior citizens and children. 3. Helping senior and shut-ins with various chores around their house. 4. Working with peer in after-school and day care.5. Clerical, reserach, and office work.

The children are our future. We must help them individually, in peer groups to provide direction, address issues, provide support and to help them one-on-one, in peer groups to provide direction, address issues, provide support and to help them make good decisions regarding their future.Thornhill exposes children to positive people in order to provide them with proper role models.
Aids Ribbon
HIV/AIDS Awareness Program
Thornhill's HIV/AIDS Awareness Program educates the community of Bedford Stuyvesant of the great epidemic that has swept the nation, drastically affecting the people of New York City. This program offers free condoms, informative brochures and workshops to educate the community about safe sex as well as prevention ( program not limited to age, race or gender).

Women’s Outreach Program
This program will provide an opportunity for women in our community of all ages and culture to come together and share their knowledge, life experiences, as well as receive advice and available resources.

Wellness Program
Thornhill's illness prevention program is designed to promote wellness in the community by educating participants on proper nutrition. what, why, when and how to choose foods they eat. Each participant will develop their own wellness plan. They attend group discussions, lectures and participate in hands-on projects to explore how their actions can achieve a healthier lifestyle.
W.E.P.
New York City W.E.P Program
Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island Inc. (Thornhill is the work experience site) provides participants of its Public Assistance Program the opportunity to gain value work experience in the Women’s Program communities in which they live. Participants must provide service related jobs to people who normally could not avoid these services. Participants must enroll in school and work towards receiving an education in the career field of choice. The city pays the tuition and a stipend.

food drive

Food Distribution and New Name Brand Clothing Distribution
A major part of Thornhill’s philosophy is to bring opportunity to people who don't have it and encouraging the give back of self and time to help others. Four times a year Thornhill collects name brand clothing from many of their major distributors and make them available to our community. Also through our linkage with other food banks,Thornhill is a distributor of Bag Food and several times a year we have cooked meals. Call for availability and details.
